2D1N Malacca Trip
01:04
Hello there, lovelies! I am finally back with another travel post! A while ago, Tse Lyn, Sam, Susanna and I went for a short 2D1N trip down to Malacca (Malaysia).

I manage to book our coach tickets online and we went for Grassland Coach. Our coach is at 7.30am and the trip down to malacca takes about 4-5 hours depending on traffic.
I manage to book our coach tickets online and we went for Grassland Coach. Our coach is at 7.30am and the trip down to malacca takes about 4-5 hours depending on traffic.
Anyway, if you are interested to know the coach details:
TO: 7.30am bus, GRASSLAND SUPER VIP, $139.92
FRO: 2.30pm bus, GRASSLAND SUPER VIP, $135.68
So we spend $68.90 per person.
One issue with the coach, it alights at:
(KAFA) TA CHI HOUSE
No 1, Jalan Tun Sri Lanang, 75100 Malaka.
Contact No:06-282 4294, 06-284 4253
But we didn't know we are suppose to alight here as there isn't any drop off option when I did the bookings online, other than Malacca. So I assume they drop us here instead. It is like the middle of nowhere and the Ta Chi House is like those shophouses selling food.
Despite that, upon arrival, as we are staying over at an AirBnB apartment, it is quite hard to hail a cab over there. I think we took about 20 to 30 mins which is a hassle to me and Susanna as both of us were lugging our luggage on the busy road.
Finally, after all is done, here we are at out AirBnB apartment! The owner, Eesy, was very nice and provide us with detailed information such as their contact numbers and such. Watch my vlog to see the apartment tour!
So initially we didn't have any plans on how to travel but confirm is by cab since it is some distance away from places we want to visit. Remember I told you it is hard to hail a cab? When we finally did, we had a chat with a taxi uncle and we wanted to 'book' him for the day. We initially agreed but he had something on that he had to attend to, so he was very nice to offer his friend to us.
Here's their details if you are interested:
Mr Loy: 012-690 3947 (The first taxi uncle)
Mr Goh: 012-753 1968 or 016-770 8968 (second taxi uncle, which accompanied us for the 2 days)
Upon settling our stay at the AirBnB apartment and we confirmed with Mr Goh, we were hungry so we headed for lunch over at Ole Sayang which serves nyonya food (Mr Goh suggested this place, we wanted to go for another one initially).
Restauran Ole Sayang Sdn. Bhd.
(House of Nyonya Food)
Operating Hours:
- Lunch: 11.30am - 2.30pm
- Dinner: 6.00pm - 9.30pm
[Do take note that they are closed on Wednesday!]
Address: 198 & 199,
Jalan Merdeka Taman Melaka Raya,
75000 Melaka, Malaysia
These are the food that we ordered:
Itik Tim (咸菜鸭汤)
Mixed Vegetables
Sambal Sotong
Telok Dadar (Egg)
and I forget the name of the chicken dish we ordered but I reckon it is Ayam Specialty (very unsure)
Ice Kachang
My verdict:
The Itik Tim, Telok Dadar and the chicken WAS NICE! Will recommend these dishes. The sambal sotong is too spicy for me, won't recommend this as all I could taste is chilli but not much sotong. I didn't eat the vegetables but the rest said it was alright, as they wanted some greens to go with. Rice is refillable so you can eat all you want!
Here's the menu, pardon the lighting.
It is located right opposite MICO. Anyway, once we are done stuffing ourselves with food, next stop, we then headed down to the famous Christ Church.
There are lots of people here since it is one of the tourist attraction and we were there on a weekends. The weather is scorching hot and Susanna finally couldn't take it and even bought an umbrella. We bought tons and tons of water so I would advise you to put on sunblock, bring an umbrella and lots of water to hydrate yourself.
After which, we strolled along the streets and saw this passage way up where we you follow the trail and it will lead you to A'Famosa and St. Paul Church. There are temporary stalls over there so you could do some mini shopping while walking.
Need to climb up this flight of stairs, which is surprisingly not tiring just that the weather is killing us.
Once we reached the other end, we saw this pirate adventure theme play park for kids and right beside it there was a shopping mall! We then head in for air condition and did a little shopping.
We bought a few stuff and the mall was actually quite big! They have shops like Victoria Secret, Watsons and Charles and Keith etc. After much shopping, we then saw that they have the A&W outlet and head over to have some snacks!
Once we filled up our stomach, we set off to Jonker Street for the Jonker Night Market.
Hard Rock Cafe! We didn't try it though.
The start of Jonker Night Market, we were greeted by this coconut stall where they chop off all the 'shell' of the coconut and left the meat as a whole (if it makes sense to you, idk how to explain) which is super cool. We bought it to quench our thirst but threw away the coconut flesh as it was quite difficult to eat.
This amazing bag shop! Even though I find the bags quite pricey. It's almost $30 bucks which we can easily get in Singapore then. But I still purchased it nonetheless as there are a huge variety of bags and I got a backpack that I wanted.
This amazing street artist! Tse Lyn and Sam bought 2 personalized notebooks (yes, he will draw portraits that you want him to draw). A bit pricy for a notebook but his art piece looks so surreal. I wanted to get one but was too tired to wait. (By this time I've gotten tons and tons of stuff)
Oh, if you are wondering, the period of time when we were exploring the places, Mr Goh actually went off so that he might earn some money while waiting for us. But he did mention to us to give him a call like 15 mins to 30 mins before we want to leave the place.
He then fetch us home as we were so sweaty and we bought tons of stuff. So much that I thought my hands broke while carrying all those loots. While we went back to have a bathe, Mr Goh suggested this nice supper place, Capitol Satay, which we wanted to go early actually but all the blog reviews always says that the queue were super long.
We were there quite late (recommended by Mr Goh, he mentioned that this hours at least we don't have to queue that long). True enough, we waited for about 5 to 10 mins to get a seat and I think it was about 12 plus 1am at that time and there are still so many people!
The sauce is a special mix sauce as per what we were told. It was quite average though I feel. Like the selection of lok lok was quite limited. I think it is quite overrated. Honestly speaking, I will not queue that long for this. But I have to say though the soup base was quite nice and unique.
Mr Goh also kindly tabao this packet of fried oysters for us because he mentioned that this stall is nice and ask if we wanted to eat. We said yes and he tabao it for us while we went back to our apartment after Jonker street and bought it over to the supper place. Super nice of him!
After supper, we were dead tired and crashed immediately. Woke up the next morning but didn't do much, packed up and leave and had our breakfast, did a mini shopping for otah and head Ta Chi House to wait to board our bus.
Super annoyed at this incident. Our bus is supposed to be at 2.30pm, we were told to be there at 1.30pm to grab our bus tickets (its not in an office, there is someone sitting beside Ta Chi House). We then headed for lunch since we had an hour to kill at Ta Chi House. At 2pm the bus arrived and we are still in the midst of eating our food. They then told us they have to leave and ask us to faster board the bus.
We argued that it is stated that boarding time is 2.30pm but they insist their stand. No choice, we had to tabao our food, luckily the staff at Ta Chi House was very nice and did it rapidly for us. Overall, quite disappointed with Grassland. Will opt for other coach company next time.
Alright, that is all for the trip! I hope the post helped you plan your trip or makes you wanna have a short getaway to Malacca! I've also vlogged the trip so if you are interested, do watch it!
With Loves,
Joan Ting
